== Azerbaijani == === Etymology === Per Bəşirov, comes from earlier *badaqlaq with the drop of q. By surface analysis, from badaq (“hobble, spancel”) +‎ -laq. Perhaps, a semantic development, exhibiting an extension of specific devices' meanings into the more general trip sense. The general sense is thought to have influenced the original badaq itself, as its first definition is described as synonymous to badalaq with the further list of specifics in the ADIL.
