Plural of obsolete táukas, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *touʔkós, from Proto-Indo-European *towHk-o-, likely from *tewk-. Cognate with Latvian tàuki and Old Prussian taukis; further to Russian тук (tuk, “fat”), English thigh, and Old Irish tón (“rear end, buttocks”).
