== Latin == === Etymology === Perhaps from Proto-Italic *arkezā, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂erk-. De Vaan suggests that it may have been formed innovatively from the root of arca (“chest, box”) after the model of cumera (“chest, box”). Related with Latin to arcānus (“hidden, secret”).
