== Fijian == === Etymology === From Proto-Central Pacific *vokai. === Noun === vokai forest gecko (Gecko vorax) (loosely, sometimes) iguana (any lizard of the genus Brachylophus) ==== Usage notes ==== The forest gecko is traditionally eaten by Viti Levu highlanders, grilled over fire or hot coals. These geckos range from 3 to 12 inches in length and have adhesive discs on their feet. Though properly referring to the forest gecko, mainland Fijians sometimes use vokai for iguanas (properly saumure), though most Fijians today have seen neither animal due to predation by mongooses and feral cats.
