socair
التعريفات والمعاني
== Irish ==
=== Etymology ===
From Middle Irish socair, which formed a so-/do- pair with doccair (“troublesome, grievous”). The voiceless /k/ indicates the prefixes were added to a root that originally had some other consonant before the c, resulting in original /kk/. Original simple /k/ would have been lenited to /x/, but that did not happen in these words.
