socair

== Irish == === Etymology === From Middle Irish socair, which formed a so-/do- pair with doccair (“troublesome, grievous”). The voiceless /k/ indicates the prefixes were added to a root that originally had some other consonant before the c, resulting in original /kk/. Original simple /k/ would have been lenited to /x/, but that did not happen in these words. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈsˠɔkəɾʲ/, /ˈsˠɞkəɾʲ/ === Adjective === socair (genitive singular feminine socra, plural socra, comparative socra) easy ==== Declension ==== ==== Synonyms ==== furasta ==== Antonyms ==== deacair ==== Derived terms ==== míshocair neamhshocair === Mutation === === References === === Further reading === “socair”, in Historical Irish Corpus, 1600–1926, Royal Irish Academy Dinneen, Patrick S.
