Ellipsis of hati sanubari, from Persian دلِ صنوبرى (del-e senowbari, literally “pinecone-shaped heart”).
From Persian صنوبری (senowbari, “pineal, firry”), from Arabic صَنَوْبَر (ṣanawbar, “pine”). The heart is likened to a pine tree due to its conical shape.
