== Latvian == === Etymology === From Proto-Baltic *plikas, from Proto-Indo-European *plēy-, *plī- (with an extra suffix *-ko), from *pel-, *pʰel, *spʰel- (“to cleave, to split off, to cast off”) (whence also plēst (“to rend, to tear”)).
