Borrowed from English alright. Formally, an ellipsis of inti (tkun) orrajt? (literally “are you alright?”) as a question, and an ellipsis of jien orrajt (literally “I am alright”) as a response, although this usage sans subject or copula may also have been directly borrowed from colloquial British English. Compare Afrikaans ôraait, Malay orait.
