=== Etymology ===
Inherited from Latin nivōsum, the form is likely the cause of regional sound changes most realised in Transylvania. The development of nea for context: Latin *nevem > *neue > *neaue > neauă > nea. Thus neios is derived from *neuos. Such developments are also displayed in the regional forms of the following verbs: învia - învie, scrie - scria, lăua - laie.
Corresponding to Romanian nea + -os.
