Inherited from Ottoman Turkish ادخال (idḫal, itḫal, “a making or letting a person enter, introducing, inserting; an importing”), from Arabic إِدْخَال (ʔidḵāl, “introducing, causing to enter”), verbal noun of أَدْخَلَ (ʔadḵala, “to make enter, to let in, to introduce”).
