== Welsh == === Etymology === From Middle Welsh hoyw, hoev. Schumacher and Johnston identify this as cognate to Latin saevus (“savage”). Isaac instead posits origin from Proto-Celtic *aisus, with a metathesis of *-s- > *-h- to the beginning of the word.
