== Basque == === Pronunciation === Hyphenation: az‧kar === Etymology 1 === Perhaps a compound of hazi (to "grow", "seed") + an hypothetical Proto-Basque *-hor (modern -kor). Giving azkor with an assimilation o > a (maybe same development as in hazkor) . The relation between the adjective and the tree name is not clear. It is possible that the tree was designated like that, because of its ability to grow fast.
