austrumi
التعريفات والمعاني
== Latvian ==
=== Etymology ===
From the same stem as the verb aust (“to dawn”): from Proto-Baltic *aus- with an extra -(t)rā (cf. austra “dawn light”) + -ums, from Proto-Indo-European *āws-, *aws- (“to shine”) (< *h₂ews-). As in many other Indo-European languages, the term for “east” is thus related to, or derived from, terms meaning “dawn” or “sunrise.”
