Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آجقلو (acıḳlu, “grieved, sorrowful, mourning”) (alternatively; آجقلی (acıḳlı)), from Ottoman Turkish آجق (acıḳ, “grief, sorrow, mourning”), from Ottoman Turkish آجیقمق (acımaḳ, “to pity, to feel for, to grudge, to regret, to hurt, to give pain”), from Proto-Turkic *ačï- (“to pity, have compassion”). By surface analysis, acı- + -k + -li.
