Borrowed from Ancient Greek Σακάραυλοι (Sakárauloi), a name that appears only in Strabo's Geographica. It is generally considered to have originated as a scribal corruption of the original phrase Σακαραῦκαι καὶ Αὐγαλοί (Sakaraûkai kaì Augaloí, “Sacaraucae and Augali”).
