Laukaa
التعريفات والمعاني
== Finnish ==
=== Etymology ===
From the strong grade form (oblique stem) of lauas (from Proto-Finnic *laugas (“pond, quagmire”), compare Estonian laugas). In the case of the town in Central Finland, the term refers to the body of water (Koivulahti) between the lakes Saraavesi and Kuusvesi (perhaps more specifically to the bay now known as Koivulahti in the former), which was an important route for boats. While the name of the town and river in Russia derive from the same word, there is no direct connection between the two.
