yskä
التعريفات والمعاني
== Finnish ==
=== Etymology ===
Of uncertain origin; one theory states that the word stems from a dialectal yskä (“lap, chest”) (from Proto-Finnic *üskä), from which was derived yskäntauti (literally “chest illness”), from which yskä became to mean "cough" by ellipsis. Others believe that the word is onomatopoeic and imitates the sound of coughing. Formerly it was believed to be a Germanic loan of the same origin as usko, but this theory has been discarded.
