yengə (definite accusative yengəni, plural yengələr)
A woman who guides the bride and prepares her for the nuptial night, follows her to the bridegroom's house, and, upon the consummation of marriage, brings the sheets covered with blood stains back to the parents' house as a token of the bride's virginity; sometimes also functions as a matchmaker.
