Inherited from Ottoman Turkish یاهو (yāhū), from یا (yā, “o!”) + هو (hū, “any individual talked to, (in Sufism) God”), from Arabic يَا (yā) + هُوَ (huwa). Cognate of Azerbaijani yahu.
