Synonyms: nagyjából, körülbelül, mintegy

=== Etymology 2 ===
Ultimately from Proto-Finno-Ugric *wole- (“to be, will be”) (present-day Hungarian van), via pre–Old Hungarian vol-, via hypothetical *voly- (ly indicating /ʎ/), via vadźs- (dźs indicating /ɟ͡ʝ/), and eventually (in the later Old Hungarian period) becoming vagy. The other first- and second-person forms vagyok (“I am”), vagyunk (“we are”), and vagytok (“you are”, plural) also derive from this stem. The vowel o became more open at the same time. Compare also vagyon (noun and archaic verb form).
==== Verb ====

second-person singular indicative present indefinite of van: you are (informal, familiar)
