Perhaps a denominative, from važas (“wagon, carriage”) + -iuoti. Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *weǵʰ- (“to bring, transport”).
Also compare vežti (“to lead, convey”), from Proto-Balto-Slavic *weźtei; važioti (“to cart, transport, take for a drive”), from Proto-Balto-Slavic *wáźīˀtei.
