== German == === Etymology === Literally, “unexpected close-range shot”. === Noun === unerwarteter Nahschuss m (strong, definite nominative der unerwartete Nahschuss, genitive (des) unerwarteten Nahschusses, plural unerwartete Nahschüsse, definite plural die unerwarteten Nahschüsse) a form of fusillation where the victim is shot, typically to the back of their head, at a moment when they do not expect it, e.g. during what appears to be preparations for a "proper" execution (it was the standard method of execution in the GDR from 1968 to 1987)
