tsʰɛn³⁵

التعريفات والمعاني

== Pela == === Etymology === From Chinese 千 (qiān, “thousand”), possibly via Southwestern Mandarin. It seems that this loanword replaced the native term derived from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-toŋ (“thousand”), which most Burmish languages still have, as in Burmese ထောင် (htaung, “thousand”), and outside Burmish, for instance, Tibetan སྟོང (stong, “thousand”). === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /tsʰɛn³⁵/ === Numeral === tsʰɛn³⁵ thousand ==== Usage notes ==== Like in English, Chinese and Burmese, tsʰɛn³⁵ needs to be modified with a cardinal numeral. Thus, for "one thousand", tə̆.tsʰɛn³⁵ ("tə̆" is a reduced form of ta³¹("one")) should be used. ==== See also ==== tʰai⁵⁵ ("ten") ja⁵⁵ ("hundred") van³⁵ ("ten thousand, myriad") === References === Dai Qingxia, Jiang Ying, Kong Zhien, A Study of Pela Language (2007; Publishing House of Minority Nationalities, Beijing)
