== Lithuanian ==
=== Etymology ===
Of uncertain origin. Fraenkel derives the word from an earlier *tros-sk-st, with the root ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ters- (“to be dry”), while Smoczynski tentatively derives the word from a putative Proto-Indo-European *treh₂ḱ- (“to desire”), comparing to Ancient Greek τρώγω (trṓgō, “to gnaw, eat”), which he derives from *treh₂ģ-. However, the existence of Smoczynski's deduced roots is in question.
