== Lithuanian == === Etymology === Of uncertain origin. Fraenkel derives the word from an earlier *tros-sk-st, with the root ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ters- (“to be dry”), while Smoczynski tentatively derives the word from a putative Proto-Indo-European *treh₂ḱ- (“to desire”), comparing to Ancient Greek τρώγω (trṓgō, “to gnaw, eat”), which he derives from *treh₂ģ-. However, the existence of Smoczynski's deduced roots is in question. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈtɾoːkʃʲtʲɪ/ === Verb === trókšti (third-person present tense trókšta, third-person past tense tróško) to be thirsty, to thirst to hope to desire ==== Conjugation ==== ==== Derived terms ==== ==== Related terms ==== troškinti, troškina, troškino troškulys ==== See also ==== viltis === References ===
