tröja

التعريفات والمعاني

== Swedish == === Etymology === From Middle Low German troye, troie, of uncertain origin, perhaps borrowed from Old French troie (“sweater, cardigan from Troyes”). Cognate with Icelandic treyja and Dutch trui. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /²trœja/ === Noun === tröja c an upper-body garment, excluding outerwear like jackets, especially one worn for warmth and usually not for example a dress shirt (which is a skjorta); usually pulled over the head to put on, though sometimes with buttons or a zipper (for example on some hoodies) a T-shirt Synonyms: t-shirt, t-tröja a sweater, a jumper Synonyms: tjocktröja, (uncommon) sweater a cardigan Synonym: kofta a sweatshirt Synonyms: sweatshirt, collegetröja, tjocktröja a hoodie Synonyms: huvtröja, hoodie, tjocktröja a jerkin, a doublet ==== Usage notes ==== Like the loose meaning of shirt in American English, but also extending to sweaters and the like. A non-outerwear, "everyday" upper-body garment worn for warmth, usually pulled over the head. A T-shirt would often be qualified as t-shirt or t-tröja. The immediate association is a sweater or sweatshirt. Tjocktröja excludes T-shirts and the like – a (usually comparatively thicker) "outer" garment within the category of tröja. A thin long-sleeve garment might get called a "långärmad [long-sleeve] tröja" instead, though it's bound to be a bit fuzzy. ==== Declension ==== ==== Derived terms ==== ==== See also ==== jumper kortärmad (“short-sleeved”) linne (“tank top, singlet; camisole”) långärmad (“long-sleeved”) pullover (“pullover”) skjorta (“dress shirt”) === References === “tröja”, in Svensk ordbok [Dictionary of Swedish] (in Swedish) “tröja”, in Svenska Akademiens ordbok [Dictionary of the Swedish Academy] (in Swedish)
