Unlike English science in current usage (but like German Wissenschaft), tiede includes more than just the natural sciences. If one wants to refer to them in particular, luonnontiede can be used.
tiede in the singular is either a generic term or refers to a particular discipline; the plural tieteet may be used collectively of the sciences, including the liberal arts and humanities.
