== Albanian == === Etymology === Unclear. Traditionally derived from Proto-Indo-European *dʰónu (“fir”), but with phonetic problems. Compare Ancient Greek θάμνος (thámnos, “thicket”), Hittite 𒄑𒋫𒈾𒀀𒌑 (GIŠta-na-a-ú /⁠tanau⁠/, “fir”), German Tann (“woods”), Tanne (“fir”), Breton tann (“red oak”). Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *tsàna, from earlier Mediterranean substrate word *ḱastnà. Compare Ancient Greek κᾰ́στᾰνᾰ (kắstănă, “chestnut”) and Old Armenian կասկ (kask).
