==== Usage notes ====
According to the Parvum lexicon stemmatologicum, textology refers to a field of study nearly identical to textual criticism but somewhat broader, with a diminished focus on manuscript corruption but a greater emphasis upon the linguistic and extratextual evidence and context within the tradition established in the 1960s by Dmitry Likhachev and primarily practised within Central and Eastern Europe. However, the term may be used outside this region for research hardly related to textual criticism.
