Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تتك (tetik, “quick, sharp, vigilant, nice, delicate, a trigger of a gun”), from Proto-Turkic *tetik (“alert, clever”), from the root *tet- (“to strive, exert; bold, hero; clever, reasonable; cheerful, vigorous”), whence also didin- (“to strive”).
Compare Old Turkic [script needed] (tetik, “quickwitted, intelligent”).
