tarmitét

التعريفات والمعاني

== Old Irish == === Alternative forms === tremi·tét === Etymology === From tarmi- +‎ ·tét. Calque of Latin transgredior. Pedersen and DIL treat tremi·tét and tarmi·tét as synonyms formed with different prefixes, but Thurneysen points out that tremi- is regularly found for tarmi- in pretonic position, implying that the two are morphologically equivalent. A separate verb tremi·tét (“to traverse; to penetrate”) actually does have tremi- from tre- (“through”). === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /t̪aɾ.miˈt̠ʲeːd̪/ === Verb === tarmi·tét (verbal noun tairmthecht) to transgress ==== Conjugation ==== ==== Descendants ==== ⇒ Irish: tairmtheacht (from the verbal noun tairmthecht) No direct descendants as a verb, but the modern Irish phrasal verb téigh thar (“to transgress”) contains the same elements. === Mutation === === References ===
