== Pela == === Etymology === From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *ts(j)i(j) ~ tsjaj (“ten”). Cognate with Burmese ဆယ် (hcai, “ten”), Nuosu ꊰ (ci, “ten”), Lisu ꓞꓲꓻ (tsʰɨ, “ten”), Zhaba tsʰɿ⁵⁵ (“ten”) and Jingpho shi (“ten”). Compare Lhao Vo daxe, Zaiwa ce, Longchuan Achang tɕhe⁵⁵ and Hpon tᴜ̀ʔʃíh. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /tʰai⁵⁵/ === Numeral === tʰai⁵⁵ ten ==== Usage notes ==== Just like in Chinese and Burmese, tʰai⁵⁵ requires modification by a cardinal numeral. Thus, for "(one) ten", tə̆.tʰai⁵⁵ ("tə̆" is a reduced form of ta³¹("one")) should be used (cf. Burmese တဆယ် (ta.hcai, “ten”)). ==== Derived terms ==== ==== See also ==== i̠³¹ tʰai⁵¹ ("twenty") ja⁵⁵ ("hundred") === References === Dai Qingxia, Jiang Ying, Kong Zhien, A Study of Pela Language (2007; Publishing House of Minority Nationalities, Beijing)
