=== Etymology 1 ===
Borrowed from Punjabi ਸੁੱਲਾ (sullā, “Muslim (derogatory)”). This word is likely a mispronunciation (or perhaps a misspelling in Gurmukhi script) of Punjabi ਮੁੱਲਾ (mullā, “mullah, Islamic religious leader”), derived from Classical Persian ملا (mullā), ultimately from Arabic مُلَّا (mullā). It may also be a contraction of Punjabi ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ (muslamān, “Muslim”) or Punjabi ਮੁਸਲਾ (muslā, “"carpet kisser", another derogatory term for Muslims, but also refers to a mat or carpet used for Muslim prayers”).
==== Noun ====
sulla (plural sullas or sulleh)
(South Asia, religious slur, ethnic slur, offensive) A Muslim man; especially one from Pakistan.
===== Usage notes =====
In the modern day, the term is most often used by Sikhs on social media. This usage is rooted in long-standing historical animosity between Sikhs and Muslims in South Asia.
The term is used infrequently by Hindutva supremacists, as it is not native to Hindi.
===== Synonyms =====
mulla (rare)
musalla (very rare)

From Old Norse sulla (“to swill”), perhaps from Old Norse sollr, *sullr (“swill, slop for pigs”), from Proto-Germanic *swulaz (“swill”), from Proto-Indo-European *swel- (“to wash, wash down, gulp, swallow”). Cognate with English swill. Compare also Old Norse svalla (“to drink heavily, swill”).

to spill
==== Usage notes ====
The verb sulla and sulla saman (“to mix together”) denote a hint of apathy, carelessness or casualness of the doer's actions.
This verb may be found childish.
In the sense of "spilling" the preposition á (“on”) may be added to give information as to where one spilled something:
Ég sullaði mjólk á gólfið.
I spilled milk on the floor.
