From s- + tronzo (“blunt, dull”) (obsolete) + -are, from Old French trons, possibly of Celtic origin. Unrelated to the word stronzo (“shit-for-brains, turd”) but, since the verb is obsolete in usage, it's likely it would be mistaken as a derivative of the vulgar word.
