estrogonofe (adapted spelling)
=== Etymology ===
Borrowed from English stroganoff, from Russian Стро́ганов (Stróganov), the name of a family involved in the settlement in Siberia.
=== Pronunciation ===
=== Noun ===
strogonoff m (plural strogonoffs)
stroganoff (dish of sautéed pieces of beef)
(by extension) stroganoff (a stroganoff made with a different protein)
==== Usage notes ====
In Brazil, strogonoff often refers to chicken stroganoff by default. As such, the construction strogonoff de carne (“meat stroganoff”) is used to specify beef stroganoff, while strogonoff de frango (“chicken stroganoff”) provides clarity in the former case.
