== Romanian == === Alternative forms === sprinceană, sprâncea, sprânceauă, sprincea, sprunceană — regional or archaic === Etymology === From a Vulgar Latin root *supercenna, from *supergenna, formed from a confusion of Latin supercilia and gena (whence came Romanian geană), or from supercilia with influence from geană in early Romanian or Proto-Romanian, analogous to the original Latin deriving from super (“above”) + cilia (“eyelash”). Compare Spanish sobreceño. The Romanian word (as well as the Aromanian equivalent sprindzeanã) developed a nasal infix, similarly to Portuguese sobrancelha, Romansh survantscheglia.
