sittanäri

التعريفات والمعاني

== Ingrian == === Etymology === From sitta (“feces”) +‎ Proto-Finnic *närhi, due to the bird's habit of scavenging of dung heaps. Compare dialectal Finnish paskanärhi and Estonian pasknäär. The loss of the medial -h- is irregular in most dialects, but regular in the Ala-Laukaa dialect. It's possible that this word spread from one dialect to the others, or was borrowed from a Southern Finnic language. Alternatively, analogy with the verb närriä (“to chew”) might have played a role. === Pronunciation === (Ala-Laukaa) IPA(key): /ˈsitːɑˌnæri/, [ˈs̠itːəˌnæriˑ] (Soikkola) IPA(key): /ˈsitːɑˌnæri/, [ˈʃitːɑˌnæriˑ] Rhymes: -æri Hyphenation: sit‧ta‧nä‧ri === Noun === sittanäri jay ==== Declension ==== === References === Ruben E.
