From Proto-Albanian *sākska, from Proto-Indo-European *sekʷ- (“to see”) Compare English see, Greek ἕπομαι (épomai). Ultimately a doublet of shikoj via this root.
Aorist pashë may be from Proto-Indo-European *spéḱyeti (“to look at”) (compare English spy, Latin specere). However, Orel rejects this etymology and instead assigns it to Proto-Indo-European *peh₂- (“to protect”).
