From Hebrew שֶׁהַכֹּל (shehakól), the key word in the blessing, meaning "all that which is created [by God]". This is shortened from the full text of the blessing: "ברוך אתה ה' אלוהינו מלך העולם, שהכל נהיה בדברו" (Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, by whose word all things came to be.).
