== Polish == === Etymology === From samo- + chód. First attested in the 19th century. There is a popular belief that the term was coined in a competition; however, no record of said competition exists. There was wavering between this term and samojazd as to which would be the default term for car, but samojazd was ultimately displaced in the 20th century.
