==== Usage notes ====
In English common usage, the term thistle is used of prickly plants belonging to 15 genera. In Finnish plant names, ohdake is limited to the genus Cirsium. Due to their resemblance to Cirsium, plants belonging also to genera Onopordum (kruunuohdake), Carduus (karhiainen), Carlina (kurho) and Arctium (takiainen) are often called ohdake in everyday language.
