Compare Proto-Hlai *C-ŋin (“thousand”). Sometimes connected to Old Chinese 千 (OC *s.n̥ˤi[ŋ]) (B-S) (SV: thiên), through some variant form. However, the attested lateral presyllable made this connection difficult.
