=== Etymology ===
Either from Greek νεράντζι (nerántzi) or from Ottoman Turkish نارنج (narenc, narenç), both of which are in turn borrowed from Arabic نَارَنْج (nāranj), which itself is borrowed from Classical Persian نارنگ (nārang) and is ultimately derived from Sanskrit नारङ्ग (nāraṅga, “orange tree”). Compare Hindi नारंगी (nāraṅgī), Spanish naranja, Serbo-Croatian naranča and English orange, all from the same source.
