From Proto-Indo-European *h₁neḱ- (“carry, bring”); compare Tocharian B eṅk- (“take”) < *h₁n̥ḱ-, Ancient Greek ἐνεγκεῖν (enenkeîn, “bring”) < reduplicated present *h₁ne-h₁n̥ḱ-.
