myydä
التعريفات والمعاني
== Finnish ==
=== Alternative forms ===
myödä (dated, dialectal)
=== Etymology ===
From Proto-Finnic *müüdäk ~ *möödäk (compare Estonian müüma, Karelian myyvvä, Veps möda, Võro müümä), from Proto-Uralic *mixe- (“to give”) (compare Erzya миемс (mijems); see the Proto-Uralic entry for more).
=== Pronunciation ===
IPA(key): /ˈmyːdæˣ/, [ˈmyːdæ(ʔ)]
Rhymes: -yːdæ
Syllabification(key): myy‧dä
Hyphenation(key): myy‧dä
=== Verb ===
myydä
(transitive) to sell [with allative ‘to (the person or entity something is sold to)’ or illative ‘to (a place)’, along with elative or adessive ‘for (a price)’]
myydään! ― for sale!
==== Usage notes ====
The price is expressed using the elative or the adessive case. An exception is if the price is expressed with hinta (“price”) or a compound ending in that word, in which case the illative case is commonly used, although the elative and adessive are also possible.
==== Conjugation ====
The conjugation of myydä is sometimes mixed with the alternative form myödä in past tense (möin, möit, möi, möimme, möitte, möivät) and in conditional mood (möisin, möisit, möisi, möisimme, möisitte, möisivät). This is now considered dialectal.
