According to Meyer and Tagliavini from mbar (“to bring (back)”) (mbar + -oj). Related to Albanian mbarë (“good, right, complete, wholly, etc.”), further related to mbart (“to bear, carry (back)”), Albanian mbaj (“to hold, carry”) and bie (“to bring”).
Orel proposed it as a (prefixal) derivative of parë.
