lahko
التعريفات والمعاني
== Finnish ==
=== Etymology ===
Partly from Proto-Finnic *lahko (compare Estonian lahk, Livonian lǭ’gõ, Veps lahk), borrowed either from Proto-Germanic *slagiz or Proto-Germanic *slahō. The original sense inherited from Finnic is “split log”, which is found only in some eastern Finnish dialects in the form laahko.
Partly borrowed from Old Swedish lagh (compare Swedish lag (“a workgroup, a team”)); the meaning “combine (of peasants)” derives from the Old Swedish term.
The remaining senses like “sect, cult” derive from a confluence of these two.
