kypsä

التعريفات والمعاني

== Finnish == === Etymology === From Proto-Finnic *küpci, likely borrowed from Baltic (see Proto-Finnic entry for more). The inflection type has been analogically remodelled; earlier inflection kypsi (genitive kypsen, partitive kystä) still survives in some dialects, usually as a noun. In others, the partitive kystä has become detached from the paradigm and has become a new, independent adjective. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈkypsæ/, [ˈk̟yps̠æ] Rhymes: -ypsæ Syllabification(key): kyp‧sä Hyphenation(key): kyp‧sä === Adjective === kypsä (comparative kypsempi, superlative kypsin) ripe, mature, matured (ready for reaping or use) mature (fully developed) cooked, baked (of food: prepared by cooking) (figurative) ripe, mature, consummate aika on kypsä ― the time is ripe (cooking) well done (well-cooked) (figurative) beaten, beaten down, worn down, ready (to) kypsä kompromissiin ― ready to compromise (as opposed to still being steadfast) (colloquial) fed up [with illative ‘with’] ==== Declension ==== ==== Synonyms ==== (fed up): kyllästynyt ==== Derived terms ==== ==== Related terms ==== kypsentää kypsyttää kypsyys kypsyä === Further reading === “kypsä”, in Kielitoimiston sanakirja [Dictionary of Contemporary Finnish]‎[1] (in Finnish) (online dictionary, continuously updated), Kotimaisten kielten keskuksen verkkojulkaisuja 35, Helsinki: Kotimaisten kielten tutkimuskeskus (Institute for the Languages of Finland), 2004–, retrieved 2 July 2023
