The more traditional strategy for affirmation is the so-called echo response, in which the verb is repeated in an affirmative response. Colloquially, words like joo and juu are used for affirmative answers. The word jaa is used in the special context of voting (cf. "aye", "yea"). ==== Synonyms ==== (echo response) (colloquial) joo, juu ==== Antonyms ==== ei (inflected) === Noun === kyllä (obsolete) abundance, plenty ==== Derived terms ==== === References === === Further reading === “kyllä”, in Kielitoimiston sanakirja [Dictionary of Contemporary Finnish]‎[1] (in Finnish) (online dictionary, continuously updated), Kotimaisten kielten keskuksen verkkojulkaisuja 35, Helsinki: Kotimaisten kielten tutkimuskeskus (Institute for the Languages of Finland), 2004–, retrieved 2 July 2023 == Karelian == === Etymology === From Proto-Finnic *küllä.
