While elision of the ending -et is now dialectal or poetic in most other verbs, it remains common in colloquial speech with kosten. Thus one might hear /kɔst/ for kostet and, slightly less often, /ɡəkɔst/ for gekostet. These may be spelt kost't, kost, and gekost't, gekost.
