korva + Swedish pust; originally “cuff on the ear”. The sense “cinnamon roll” (possibly originally humorous) is probably due to the earlike appearance of the pastry and may have first been coined in Swedish örfil (although note that this sense exists only in Finland Swedish and is unknown in Sweden).
